Ayame's dark brown fur had a red tint to it in the warming rays of daylight. She knew she had to get up, but she was sad. "Damnit! Why did my pups have to die!! Why couldn't I have died?" she thought grimly, sinking into deeper depression. Fathom had comforted her when they passed away, but it didn't help. Plus, she still had the scent of milk on her. Her brown eyes opened and she looked over at her friend, Fathom. "Hey, dude." she barked, nudging him a bit. 'He's gonna be really pissed, crap.' she thought as she saw him stir. The alpha female wondered if it was a good idea to wake him, because he might get cranky. Besides, what did it matter to him? It wasn't his problem.
But it was, her mate and her pups died. If he really cared about her, he'd listen, right? Yeah. She nudged him one more time with her muzzle before leaning back and sitting up. She yawned a bit, and looked at her stomach. It was still rather large. "Thanks, Rhythm," she sighed.

Fathom
The male wolf stirred lightly as he was nudged. It was Ayame, the Alpha Female of the pack. Of course it was Ayame. Not that he had a problem with it. He didn't have any problem with it really. There was nothing to have a problem with. If anything it was good that she was waking him. He did care about her, but of course why wouldn't he? Yawning the male Alpha's teeth showed and his dark coffee colored eyes blinked quickly. Moving his limbs his paws touch the den's floor as he sat up beside Ayame. "Dude? Really? " His voice was slightly mono-tone as his face turned into a questioning look.
Laughing he knew what this was about. He could already tell. This was not going to go well despite if he tried doing all he could. It was hard to deal with Ayame and her pups she had lost, as well as her mate. Fathom was slightly overjoyed at the thought that Ayame was no longer claimed by some other male. But that was not what he needed to deal with right now. He needed to listen to her and what she had to say.

Ayame let out a loud laugh, already feeling better. Ah, Fathom. How he knew how to make her laugh. Maybe that's why they were such good friends, and why Rhythm was always so jealous of him. Did he have a right to be? No, they were just friends... or were they more? Maybe, but even if they were, she was in too much pain to think about it. She smiled, "Yes, really," she snickered, a good mood in the air. She felt bad that she might spoil it, but Fathom wouldn't mind that much.. right? A small shiver went through her as he came closer, and she smiled, looking at the floor.
"I just... don't know why they died.." she sighed, remembering the day she went out hunting, and she saw her pups, apprentices at the time, dead. Then her head snapped up and she stood up. "Wait! They didn't have the same fur color!" she realized, it had been a moon and she had been going through much pain. So she might not have realized, but it seemed like the best choice, right? Your pups are gone, and you found dead ones... she started to snarl loudly, but tried to calm down. Who took my pups?!
"WHO THE HELL WOULD DO THAT?!"

Fathom
Looking at Ayame he pushed himself closer. One thing that he would never do was be afraid of her. He would never back down to her even if she was threatening to rip out his throat. There was something that made he always push to be closer to her. How he needed to be. Pressing his nose to her pelt and setting his head atop hers he stayed for a moment before pulling away to let his eyes look at hers. "Ayame, calm down. It will do no good to get mad at something you can not change." His voice was stern though calm and smooth. he could not aggravate her more than she already was. That never turned out well. "Whoever did had a reason, and I'm sure we'll get them back." Though he did not want the pups back for they were not his, he would try to get them back for Ayame.
It was the least he could do after all. He was never friendly, but nor was he mean, to Rhythm. Though that did not matter now for the wolf was gone. "We will find them sooner or later Ayame. They have your blood, they're has to be the will to survive in them somewhere."

Ayame was literally shaking with anger, and it wasn't pleasing. If somebody happened to walk in, then she might kill them. She growled a bit as Fathom put his muzzle to her fur, but she didn't do anything. She closed her eyes and sat down. She was still growling a bit, but after a moment she calmed down, sighing, she plopped down. "Oh, I know we'll get 'em back. Though, I'm gonna rip the bastard that stole my pups to shreds." she spoke calmly, but Fathom should know better. She was freaking on the inside. The demon princess was looking at the floor, but her eyes slid over to meet Fathom's. "I will kill that ass hole, and I will rip his throat out,"
The courners of her mouth were turned up, showing her white teeth. She sighed a bit, and then wondered if Rhythm were still alive, but he wasn't. She saw him die. Right? Well, if he was alive, she'd never forgive him. He put her through the worst hell that she ever could have, she'd kill him, too. Hearing Fathom calmed her down, and she smiled a bit. "Yeah, besides... only Vertigo would kill them, and we don't even live near them! But.. who would steal apprentices?" she wondered, and then she realized something. "Timani, they've been losing so many wolves, would they?" she knew it was too soon to start accusing people, but she could still hold her suspicions.

Fathom
The male wolf was never one to accuse. He always needed proof behind his accusations for assuming was the worst of the worst and only those low enough would think of it. But times were rough in the packs these days and maybe it wasn't so hard to drop himself down to assume something for once. "Ayame. Any wolf is valuable these days. " He knew his statement was true although the true reasoning behind the stolen apprentices was hard to say. Power was a corruption. It turned the best into the worst although some could press against it and draw back from within the corruption's path.
"Timani is the only pack that would steal them from us. They are low in wolves, and they are close. But do not go pointing your tail in that direction. Let somebody else do it first, and only support them. Don't put yourself out there more than you already are Ayame. " His voice was calm. Fathom was a quick thinker and a strategist none the less.
